John Davenport

John DavenportAll-Metro boys track: First team
He’s become one of the most versatile and effective sprinters in the area. But his biggest problem was that he had to face fellow All-Metro sprinter George Chambers of Curley in the MIAA meet. Davenport turned in strong performances in the 100, 200 and 400 that day, but lost to Chambers in each of those races. The most interesting race was the 400, in which Chambers set a meet record while winning (48.02), but Davenport also topped the previous record (48.66) despite taking second.
